CLEARED SKHER (seen/ak)
Nashik: Teachers at all the Nashik Municipal Corporation schools will soon be barred from taking their mobile phones to classrooms so that students can concentrate on their studies and teachers too do not get distracted while imparting lessons.
A decision in this regard follows directives by municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe to the civic education board, said a board official on Monday.
The education board of the municipal corporation is in the process of issuing a circular within the next couple of days, said the official.
“Students get disturbed and distracted if teachers talk on their mobile phones during classes or even if the mobiles ring.”
According to the official, the teachers will have to deposit their mobile phones with the school headmasters before going to the classroom. In case of an emergency, the headmaster can convey the message to the teachers concerned during school hours. Teachers will get their phones back after school hours.
There are 90 municipal schools across six divisions with 944 teachers in the city and a total of around 35,000 students.
The six divisions of NMC are Nashik East, Nashik West, Panchavati, Satpur, Nashik Road and Cidco divisions.
