BATTLE CREEK, MI – Police say burglars have targeted electronics and jewelry in a rash of break-ins on the city’s south side.
Several homes have been burglarized in the past week, Battle Creek police said Monday, June 18.
The crimes have occurred between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m., within a few hours of residents leaving their homes. Burglaries have been reported in a corridor from Columbia Avenue to I-94, and Goguac Lake to Riverside Drive, police said.
The burglars typically force entry through a side or rear door of attached garages then enter the homes.
Once inside, they go to master bedrooms to steal primarily electronics and jewelry.
Police released surveillance images of a burglary over the weekend.
Police asked any information to call 911 or contact Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.
Police also said residents should take steps to protect their homes, including use of security lighting, and deadbolts on doors.
